#1:
If we thought that Finland was cold, now we can’t say the same about the people: nice teens who drink liters of milk instead of water and live in a place with wonderful landscapes. During the week spent between trees and lakes, we learnt something about Finnish culture, thanks to tongue twisters and songs. The school that was said to be small turned out to be a big house for its pupils, where they can even walk barefoot.
We became Finnish step by step, learning how to play Finnish baseball and their traditional game ‘molkky’. Even though we left when the sun began to shine, we will always remember our kind hosts, the reliable teachers and, obviously, our new European friends.
#2:
Two weeks ago we went to Ristiina, in Finland, a wonderful village with 5.000 inhabitants. Finnish people were kind, friendly and nice. The houses were huge; everyone had a big sauna and a fireplace, and that was incredible for us. They had different habits: for example, during the meal they used to drink milk instead of water, or take off the shoes in school.
Every morning we met all together at the school, and the day started. We did many activities and games at school, but also outside the building: we visited the water purification plant, concerning workshops about water we had to prepare for the meeting, the rock paintings in Astuvansalmi, Repovesi national park and other attractions. We took part at our hosts lessons, had fun having class of Finnish, but we had time to go shopping too.. We went to Mikkeli, a close city, with shopping malls and theatre. The last night there was the farewell party, the final meeting where we danced, had fun but also said a sad goodbye..
On Saturday and Sunday Italian group stayed in Helsinki: we walked so much but it’s a wonderful city!
Young people from different countries in Europe, but with the same age, met together in the same countries: it’s the greatest thing Comenius project offered, and we are very lucky for taking part to it. It was a really good experience, not a common exchange, new friendships were born and we all still miss everybody!
The Polish delegation
This week was
extraordinary for us. The landscape was amazing. There were forests and lakes
everywhere, the air was so fresh because of that! The red wooden houses are beautiful and all of them
have saunas. We met a lot of people from other countries and we
could try the traditional Finnish cuisine. The atmosphere was very
friendly. The host families were for us like our second ones. We were crying when we were
leaving Finland and friends.
We had great time there!
