The 2nd meeting in TURKEY March 2014

THE RESULTS OF THE MEETING

some photos from the Polish school website

2nd Meeting of the Comenius Project WEWF was held in Isparta between 23rd and 29th of March. 6 schools from Turkey, Finland, Poland, Italy, Germany and France and almost 70 project people gathered for a week to exchange opinions, thoughts, suggestions and culture.

We are sure that all of our guests were amazed by the traditional Turkish hospitality, which is a significant part of our daily lives. The Comenius week gave us a great chance to see how much we have in common; similar problems, common environmental issues, shared tastes, likes, student behaviours and attitudes, thus helping to break certain prejudices and false stereotypes about everyone.

When it comes to the activities carried out during the week, we can briefly note the following;
-Each participant planted a tree with his/her host and we created a Comenius Memorial Forest next to our school.

-We visited Ertokuş Medrese built in the 12th century to give some information about Turkish History.

-Eğirdir Lake, the 4th largest lake of Turkey and the one providing our city with drinking water, was one of the sightseeing we did.

-Everyone admired Sagalassos Antique Ruins (the capital of Ancient Greece State Pisidia) dating back 100 BC.

-Students and teachers enjoyed an open-air barbeque in Gölcük Crater Lake.

- We were welcomed very warmly at Başköy, where we visited the water mill.

-The students visited a handcraft exhibition and had a chance to try Art of Ebru (A Traditional Turkish Art).

-A Turkish folk music performance was held by the university people for us.

We believe our students have achieved lasting friendships with their guests and through this project, all partner schools contribute a lot to the ultimate goals of the Comenius projects.

THE RESULTS OF THE STUDENTS' WORK:

ITALY:
The week we spent  in Turkey is unforgettable and we hope that the friends we made will remain in contact with us even after the end of the project.  Six days flew by so quickly we all felt like we should have stayed longer.  The trips were all very interesting and it was nice to see landscapes so different from what we are used to.  Needless to say all the activities were amusing and formative at the same time.  The families couldn't have been ore welcoming and the students so polite it was difficult not to smile

.

FRANCE:

This journey was GREAT. It’s very far but it was worth it: we met very nice persons who were very friendly and of different nationalities: Italian, German, Finnish, Polish and Turk.

The host families were welcoming. The students who participated in the Comenius project were much older than we are and they had much better English level.

Turkish food is very spicy and pepper is hotter than in France. We spend a great week and we had moads of fun.
The activity about posters was very nice because the six nationalities were grouped and we worked together.
The visit of the University was pleasant because  we allowed to paint.

 FINLAND:

Matias : For me the trip to turkey was awesome. The food was great, people were nice and polite and all around the trip was perfect.
The activities were fun and exciting but the bus-rides to countryside were too long.

My host-family was great and free-time at the city with them was very fun and exciting. There is almost nothing to complain about the trip.

I would give this comenius-meeting 10/10 rating. :)

Saija: The week in Turkey was very good and very fun. I liked a lot of school days and programmes, but the University day was a bit boring. There was too little anything to do, and when some woman told about carpets and other hand-made things she talked too quite. Many couldn't hear her and couldn't then concentrate. I think it was the only a bit boring thing during the week. The lake visitings was very interesting and nice. The hosts were very kind, lovely and hospitable for us. That what our hosts had organized for us at nights was very fun and I want to thank everybody at Turkish teams who was organizing that wonderful week for us.

Anneli: It was a wonderful trip. I made many new friends and get to know a different culture. Turkey is a very beautiful country and people are kind. I would absolutely go back to those days we were there. Even we were tired sometimes it didn't stop us having fun with other people at Comenius. We truly had a great time together with our hosts and with others too. It was a first time for me being so far from home country but I'm so happy I went to Comenius meeting. That all was worth it. Thank you very much for taking us in this Project. I hope we all could meet again. The disco was just amazing I have never been in a place like that and I think I won't ever have a journey like this. Greetings from Finland. I miss you all, Turkey and the time we had.

Konsta: The project in Turkey was very well organized. I can't find out anything to complain about. We did many nice things like visiting another school, the ancient ruins and the university. It was also really nice to meet other people from different European countries. We had really nice time with them and we all learned to understand different cultures. I think also that everybody's host families were very nice and hospitable.

Jouni: I had really great time in Turkey. There was mostly great places and fun things to do. There was only couple little things that could have been done better like in the university people could have beed divided in two groups so there would have been less waiting. All the people were really nice especially Turkish people who were really friendly and hospitable. Food was also good and there was enough of it. Best things were probably meeting new people and seeing cool places, also the farewell party was pretty cool.

GERMANY:

Very open-hearted people, lots of Turkish tea, an amazing landscape – we will never forget what we experienced in 6 days in Isparta! There were hard working sessions in school while informing each other about water problems in our countries and writing a letter to the UNESCO. But there were also lots of amusing moments, for example when we planted trees as a sign of our growing friendships. Our COMENIUS partnership really opened the doors to very different world. In the German COMENIUS team we celebrated a little Turkish party after our return to Fritzlar with Turkish tea, Helva, dances and typical Turkish music! “Sağol” - thanks a lot to our Turkish hosts  and “güle güle” (good-bye and be happy).
